I won't bore you with my life story, but all I can say is that I've always wanted to be successful. They say that ambition and opportunity eventually cross paths. In my case this happened about 4 years ago.
My friend found this 'insurance sales system' where agents were making $1,000 for an hour's work and the top producers were earning as much as $10,000 in compensation in a single week. I was hooked!
The model was mortgage protection insurance sales marketed to homeowners with recent mortgage activity. Once I figured out how to close I was successful to a point, however after looking at my net income after lead costs, travel expenses, and high charge backs I realized it was kind of a mirage. At the end of the day I was netting about 1/3 of my total compensation. What I've realized about the 'mortgage protection' niche is that it was hot, hot, hot prior to the subprime mortgage meltdown in 2008. Since then it's turned into an MLM style recruiting and sales model saturated with everyone and their mother starting IMO's (insurance marketing organizations), fighting to be the first one in the door, and very limited lead return rates meaning you'll pay about $30 a lead and have to travel in an average 4-5 hour radius. Don't even get me started on beat up old leads the IMO calls bonus leads, what a joke. No thanks!
I realized that my passion is guiding families through their retirement and I pursued and acquired my Registered Investment Advisor (Series 65) license. Here's what I learned about starting an advisory practice. Unless you have a book or buy a book of business (six figures) you'll run out of marketing dollars or go into debt with marketing costs before you get a single client or get paid. I've spent over $15,000 on mailings and seminars only to be stuck with the plate lickers and tire kickers. I've been appointed with every IMO out there that claims to have the special sauce and the magic touch, and the perfect software that will close the deal for you. Not true!
Now that you have some honest perspective, why did I post this ad. Well, I finally found a truly untapped niche with virtually no marketing/ lead cost where I now get in front of an unlimited amount of prospects that really need my help. They're all in one location, no driving, and they're happy to see me :)
Appreciation Financial is a niche market within the financial services industry. It's real simple: we help teachers and staff of public schools with retirement options. We work with district approved vendors and we have payroll slots that allow us to be on campus and sell retirement plans in the schools. We pay almost nothing in marketing costs and we rarely (if ever) get charge backs. And we run into money! Lots of it! Why? Because this is a vastly under served market and most of the plans being offered to them have very high fees and are inappropriate for the client.
But it's more than that! It's an opportunity to work with a company that handsomely rewards people for real achievement. It's a great job for the personal producer and a amazing opportunity to create residual income.
